AFPI's Climate Smart Agriculture program promotes farming practices and technologies that simultaneously increase productivity, build resilience to climate change, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across Nigerian farming communities.
We work with smallholder farmers to introduce drought-tolerant varieties, conservation agriculture practices, integrated pest management, and water-smart irrigation systems tailored to local agroecological conditions.
Recently, AFPI implemented the "Integrated approach to climate change in the rice production system in Nigeria" (InACC), jointly financed by the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and GIZ as part of the Special Initiative ONE WORLD - No Hunger and the Global Programme Green Innovation Centre for the Agriculture and Food Sector, Nigeria (GIAE NG).
