Rice Value Chain Development

Improving rice productivity, processing, and market access along the entire value chain from paddy production to parboiling and retail.

Nigeria's rice sector holds enormous potential. AFPI works across the entire rice value chain — supporting production, post-harvest handling, processing, value addition, and market access for smallholder rice farmers.

Through the IFAD-VCDP partnership, we have supported the establishment of rice processing clusters, training in parboiling technologies, and market linkages to domestic and regional buyers. We also train farmers on cassava production technologies as complementary crops in the rice farming systems.

AFPI's IFAD-VCDP training programs have reached farmers in Niger State (Bida), Oyo State (Moor Plantation, Ibadan), and several other states, covering both rice seed production and cassava production technologies.
