AFPI facilitated a training programme for IFAD-VCDP farmers on modern cassava production technologies at the Moor Plantation, Ibadan, Oyo State. This training forms part of AFPI's integrated approach to smallholder farming systems development under the IFAD-VCDP framework.
Training Objectives
The training aimed to:
- Introduce farmers to improved cassava varieties with higher yield potential and disease resistance
- Train participants on modern agronomic practices for cassava production
- Build capacity in post-harvest handling and processing of cassava
- Strengthen linkages between cassava farmers and value chain actors
Participants came from IFAD-VCDP target communities and were trained by experienced agronomists and researchers from Moor Plantation research facilities.
