AFPI facilitated a training workshop on rice seed production technologies and rice-based product development for the Agro-Processing Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) project. The workshop was held at the Cappa Bar Hall, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Nigeria.
Workshop Content
The workshop covered:
- Advanced rice seed production technologies from NCRI and AfricaRice research
- Quality standards for certified seed production under the APPEALS framework
- Rice-based product development including parboiling, milling, and value addition
- Small-scale enterprise development for rice processing businesses
- Market linkage strategies for rice products
The IITA campus provided an ideal setting with access to research facilities and improved variety demonstrations. Participants included farmers, extension workers, and agro-processors from APPEALS project states.
